Classes Attended: 2 Regular
So I changed my goal to three classes a week and just made two. By that logic I should make my goal five a week, but I'm not going to.
Did notice some interesting habits of mine last week though that are indirectly BJJ related. Most notably, whenever I have "extra" money in my bank account, I feel less like going to class than when my bank account is at it's normal single digit balance. I received some back pay last week and suddenly my desire to go to BJJ the next morning was replaced my a desire to go get some drinks after work that night. Not alone mind you, I still prefer to keep my alcoholism as social as possible, but it did make me notice that's a tendency I seem to have whenever that situation comes around. I guess being cognizant of it is the first step to change.
The other thing I noticed I thought somewhat interesting is that whenever I miss more than a week straight of class (for the past couple years except on my deployment), I begin having dreams I get attacked and everything I'm trying to do BJJ wise isn't helping. I like to think this is obviously my subconscious telling me to get my ass to class. I just wish while it was showing me failing at technique it could help me figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Anyways, I'll be going to two seminars this coming Saturday; one taught by the great Tom DeBlass at Legacy Jiu Jitsu and the other being taught by the legend Lucas Lepri at Anchorage Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. So hopefully next week's blog entry is a bit more exciting than some of the previous one's have been lately. Or I at least have good pictures to show of me standing next to these two jiu jitsu icons.
